Word count on day 12 of 30

NaNoWriMo Word Count
17,957
Well, we're twelve days in to NaNoWriMo and I've managed to get 17,957 words done, that, in itself, is a record for me as I am a very slow writer and prone to getting distracted. The main problem for me now is keeping the pace up as ideas are beginning to dry up.

Cheers, Neal :)

You could do this amount in your sleep!

I aim at 10,000 a week, Bob, but usually hit about 8,000. And then, when it comes to editing, word counts cease for many weeks. But counting words is a good thing and, as John Braine said in his book 'Writing a Novel' it is what a professional does. Agonizing over your writing, getting writer's block and throwing tantrums about the art of it all is what writers can do if they've a) got another income or b) have become successful early and never had to do real work for a living.
